Mike Tellier Wins Daytona 300k

The first iRacing event ever in the CBS Truck Series history kicked off Wednesday night at the famed Daytona International Speedway. Sixteen drivers from across the USA took to the track, an attendance number the series hasn't seen since season 7.

Jacob Schneider won the pole for the event. As soon as the green flag flew, the field was side by side battling for the lead. However, on lap 7, an ill-timed lane change from Mark Guthrie, piled up most of the inside line. This took out several trucks and wounded a few others.

When the field went back to green, the action quieted down quickly. Despite this, there were still a few lead changes between the leaders. Zakk Miller and Zach Michael took turns pushing each other to the front, but the duo of Mike Tellier and Mark Murphy were always quick to snatch the lead back.

Mike Tellier assumed the lead and would go on to lead a race high 38 laps. With the race winding down, Miller and Michael tried to make their way to the front. Michael cleared the #48 truck of Mark Murphy, and moved down in front, Miller tried the same but was not clear. Despite saving his truck from wrecking after getting clipped by the #48, Miller blew his engine and was out of the race. No caution was thrown. This left just three trucks in the lead draft.

Tellier was lucky enough to find his teammate behind him. Murphy pushed him all the way home to win the first race of the season. The win was not only Tellier's first iNSRA win, but his first iRacing league event win.

The first event of the season featured sixteen drivers, thirteen lead changes, six different leaders, and just two cautions. Tellier leads the points by five over Mark Murphy heading into race two of ten next week at Charlotte Motor Speedway. For the full results of the Daytona 300k, click here.
